Smart Skills Development - SMARTIES

The project is focusing on the concept of smart cities/villages and the understanding of this concept by the municipalities who are the ones implementing smart solutions in their environment. It is based on a premise that the understanding of the concept of smart cities/villages by municipalities is on a low level due to the fact that the problem is too wide, solutions even wider and there is also the lack of experts offering comprehensive solutions for municipalities. Especially those small municipalities that cannot afford to have such experts in their employment.

Expected results: to achieve the above mentioned goal a set of intellectual outputs will be achieved during the project period. It will start with the survey of needs of municipalities and trainers. Following will be curriculum development. Next it is course materials development and an organisation of a webinar for training of trainers. Once all the materials of the course are finalised they will be internationalised, i.e. translated to local languages of the consortium. All the project’s course materials will be freely available in the form of Moodle course also after the end of the project. In order to even more strengthen the outcomes of the project its last part will be dedicated to organising national conferences in all the partner countries of the project.

Project activities (achievements):

3-4 October, 2019 - Kick - off meeting, Budapest (Hungary). During the meeting project partners introduced their institutions, discussed the progress of the project as well as agreed on responsibilities.

20 November, 2019 - project Facebook profile launched: https://www.facebook.com/SMARTIESSmartSkillsDevelopment/.

29 November, 2019 - Survey of needs finished and summary developed.

12 December, 2019 - Dissemination Plan developed.

21 March, 2020 - Dissemination report No 1 developed.

Dissemination report No 2 is under development.

March 2020 - Project partner’s meeting in Denmark postponed due to COVID-19 outbreak.

24 April 2020 - User’s Manual for the SMARTIES Facebook Page developed.

26 April 2020 - SMARTIES newsletter No 1 developed and disseminated.

20 July 2020 - SMARTIES poster developed and disseminated.

22 July 2020 - SMARTIES leaflet developed and disseminated.

Course material on smart cities concept is under development.

29 July 2020 - Facebook campaign, advertising the above course material. At least 14 interesting topics will be introduced until the end of September 2020, twice per week.

Webinars introducing the course material are planned to be held in late Autumn 2020.

2021 spring - 4 webinars about training material.

7 September 2021 - a national conference "SMARTIES: Technology Changing the City" was organised by Kaunas STP
