Tech-Park Kaunas, one of the largest startup communities, will host a "Demo Day" this Friday. The event is the finale of the Interreg Baltic Sea Region BSI_4Women Business Development and Incubation Program. Ukrainian women who have participated in the business development program will present their ideas and solutions to an audience of business experts and community members.
The event's main guest will be Eskedar Tilahun, who has restarted her life in Lithuania and became the first refugee in Lithuania. She will talk about the challenges she has faced and share her personal experience of what gives her confidence in her everyday business life. Representatives of the Employment Service, Kaunas University of Technology, and other organisations will present their reports on relevant initiatives.
"The program has attracted a lot of interest from the community. The participants went beyond the impossible - time constraints, family commitments, and the challenges of dealing with loved ones left behind in Ukraine. This program is not only about business but also about human strength, which overcomes all obstacles," says Živilė Paužaitė, one of the organisers and the representative of the Interreg Baltic Sea Region BSI_4Women project in Lithuania.
The women's entrepreneurship journey was also mentored by entrepreneurial mentors active in the Ukrainian diaspora community and the business world. "I am proud of our Ukrainian women, their perseverance, talent, and ability to find opportunities even under difficult conditions. In such moments I know that I have to be there for them, to support them, to share my experience, and to help them to avoid the mistakes that I have made many times," says Dr Galina Mishenina, who has been a mentor in the program.
During the event, 17 participants will present their business ideas to a panel of judges and compete for prizes provided by the event organisers and partners. The winners will also receive a ticket to the Carpathian Startup Fest 2025, an International Startup Festival in Poland at the end of May.
"I hope that by showing what the participants of the program have achieved in four months, we will encourage other women to start their businesses and thus create a stronger, more vibrant startup community," summarises Vaiva Kelmelytė, Director of Operations at Tech-Park Kaunas.
These women are inspiring female entrepreneurs who have gained not only new knowledge but also confidence in their ideas. According to Paulius Nezabitauskas, Director of Tech-Park Kaunas, "The presentation during the Demo Day allows the participants not only to hear valuable feedback from the experts but also to assess the needs of the market. Such a direct connection with the audience helps to improve products and make strategically sound decisions."
